read a text file into a table? |

Execute the following Microsoft SQL Server Transact-SQL (T-SQL) script in Management Studio (SSMS) Query Editor, SQLCMD or other client software
to load a text file into a temporary table:
USE [AdventureWorks]
GO
declare @SQLCommand varchar(1024)
set @SQLCommand = 'TYPE \\UNC\PathName\FileName.txt'
-- drop table #TextFile
create table #TextFile (Line varchar(256))
print @SQLCommand
insert #TextFile
exec master.dbo.xp_cmdshell @SQLCommand
select * from #TextFile
